all that glitters

I BE IN CATALINA NOW
L-R: opening ceremony, balenciaga, marni, diane von furstenburg, viktor & rolf, giuseppe zanotti, jil sander
magazine pictures: Marie Claire September '09
sequins and black are amazingly IN, for me, and hopefully sequins stay around for a while. i love how they give sheen and sparkle to a simple look.

[1]sequin dress
i will get a bigger picture of the full dress, its quite an amazing frock. there is about 6 inches of sequins from the hem up and a GREAT long zipper in the back, i love exposed zippers.

[2]rock and republic shoes
ok, so these are men's shoes. but i would SO wear them. they're rocker chic and the buckles are fantastic.

[3]THE coolest skirt ever
maybe dangerous, but ever so glam rock. its like wearing a million daggers (a little less harmless) like a chain mail kinda thing.

[4]SHOOOZ
black leather, patent, and sequins. i love BLACK.... :D

i have wifi so keep up !

mary katrantzous debut: fw '09, hair art by viktor and rolf, nastia liukin for max azria, coco rocha in vogue (italia?)
google images.
[1] new designer mary katrantzous is now added to my favorites now. her "perfume bottle" dresses are amazingly geometric and meticulous, as well as being beautiful and chic.
[2]IT'S A BEAR!! this makes me crazy. well.. i wish my hair were that moldable. so yeah, here you go. hair art. go viktor and rolf, keep on doing these types of things.
[3]i love the whole concept that max azria uses in this shoot he did with gymnast nastia liukin. her flexibility and the flowy, sheer materials embrace the beauty of his clothing. google nastia liukin for max azria for more pictures from the shoot. truly great.
[4]i love how young, even naive, coco rocha looks in this spread! the bejeweled headband is equally as attractive. YES ANOTHER DIY. :D
it'll come soon.. and oh noz, school is starting. so i will try to do as much as i can!

[1]this dress
drawn while semi-watching Thomas the Tank Engine (my baby brother's favorite)
i love how the yellow contrasts with the tights.. what do you think?
[2]this top, THAT skirt
o gee.. this skirt, i went on a WHIM. but.. i guess the volume is okay?
sorry if the contrast is too bright, but the top is no shouldered, with elegant pink ruffles.

shoes and a sketch

(click for larger image)
LEFT TO RIGHT : omelle, valentino, viktor & rolf, maison martin margiela, jeffrey campbell, balenciaga, chloe, dolce vita, marni, opening ceremony, jil sander
all google images

my first shoe board, i've become quite obsessed with making them. Futuristic and sleek, the omelle's are structurally chic. the valentino shoes are whimsical and look like fish
(!), hence the fishscales. these viktor and rolf's remind me of a ram's horn, the margiela's are simple and clean cut, the jeffrey campbell cage oxfords are very simple and classic, the balenciaga heel is beautifully wrapped, chloe's are streamlined and clean, dolce vita's are classy and rocker chic, marni's are WHAT I'VE BEEN CRAVING SINCE 7TH GRADE, opening ceremony's=i would wear them anyday, jil sander's - epitome of sexy and timeless.

the second image is my fashion sketch, like it or not? really, seriously, gimme your thoughts :]

bat for lashes

(click for larger image)

whimsical and lavish, these lashes from shu uemera are impractically FUN. where to wear them? masquerades; instead of your mask, on the runway, to scare your friends. i'd love a pair of the last one, which is shu uemera collaborated with viktor and rolf. look closely, and you'll see that the individual lashes are PAPERCLIPS! #@&*#^ the collaboration actually created masks with the eyelashes attached (hey, even more fit for the masquerade party you're gonna go to) , as you can see there is a white mask-like area around her eyes (not just makeup!) the harlequin print on her face is also SUPER awesome. feathers and random gold fluffs make me wanna go get some.

dressed

(click for larger image)
dresses, dresses, and shirtdresses. these are some of my favorites in the closet : [1,2] seafoam green chiffon layered dress from my mother, this was my 8th grade gradution dress, but everyone was like 'yo why's your dress so "different" looking' and i was like... 'um because i'd rather wear a dress that isn't stretchy and has flowers all over it from nordstroms' anyways, i truly adore this dress, its SOO comfortable and drapes beautifully when i wear it :) [3,4] white embroidered beach dress/cover-up got this from my mom's friend. it's hard to decide how to wear this, (i just wore a tank top under) because it's so see-through. but, i still love it. the sleeves are as equally intricate as the embroidery on the chest. very greek. [5]striped shirtdress, DIY chain necklace, black tights the shirtdress is from my mom, DUH, like always. and the chain necklace was made by using pliers and adding chains onto each other. i love LOOSE clothing.

cream dream

(click for larger image)
new cream, ECRUE actually, Wolford Tights (cotton velvet miles) from my mother. SOO vintage, they even came with a little inspiration booklet, lookbook type of thing :) above are some of my favorites in the book. i love how monotonous (i know, i'm boring) the looks are, and the oxfords are great! the backside of the booklet was covered in bodysuits and leotard-ish onesies! basically, Wolford is the ORIGINAL AMERICAN APPAREL, to me. they've been around longer, and they're more versatile and yet, not cheaper (those tights were $58) they are probably better quality, what do you think
?
btw, sorry if some of the pictures AREN'T right side up, lol
going to hallmark to get someone a gift, so adios! xx

fashion of the future

(click for larger image)
google images
hussein chalayan is at it again in his SS09 collection, and these futuristic beauties are LOVE. the beautiful backs are warped yet streamlined, with a touch of glamour. my first impression is that the dress is malleable metal, and someone has pulled it from the back, spiking it into the dress it is.
the show, on the other hand, is pure genius. after a brief period, the lights go out and the ominous glass ringing is heard, and then models step out one by one. when all the models arrive, the spotlights go on, and the stage begins to rotate! the music pace quickens and all the glasses are broken. this show is a must-watch :)

throw me a rope and save me

DIYS make me crazy. ahah, they're like my oxygen
[1] diy old shirt necklace
via cucumbersome's instructable
you'll need:
- a teeshirt (any color)
- scissors
1. grab your teeshirt and fold it in half
2. cut off the hem on the bottom
3. cut strips of the teeshirt according to the diagram, all the way up to the underarms of the shirt.
4. take the pieces you've cut and stretch them out a bit
5. if the length of the circular piece you've cut is too long, wrap around twice.
6. gather all the circular pieces and cut another strip (not circular, basically a long string)
7. use the cut strip and wrap it around any point of the gathered pieces.
8. secure by tying, or sewing it.
! :)
[2] close up detail of the necklace
[3] DIY brass button chain necklace

geometry, anyone?

christopher kane never ceases to amaze me. his bold yet demure designs are unique among the mainstream styles we see on other runways. the texture of his pieces are beautiful, and the material drapes so wonderfully on whoever wears it. watch out for more of him in the future!
JUST FOUND. this wonderful, THE MOST wonderful person in the world. nosideup.

speed of sound

sorry for lack of posting again, my comp is still wired downstairs and my dad is on it, OFTEN. lol [1] black velvet SKIRT, i know. with DKNY white bodysuit i'd say there's a certain dress-up factor to this picture, because i probably wouldn't wear it unless there was a wrapped skirt under it. [2]white DIY singlet OUTFIT UNO, royal blue pleated skirt f21, black leather belt, black tights, vintage doctor bag DIY again! weeee, i'll xpln -white singlet or teeshirt -fabric markers -ruler (if you're RC, ruler challenged, mind you) this is a FAIRLY easy DIY, yet the result is a streamlined and chic piece that matches with many things, (refer to two oufit pictures, more to come) start by grabbing a ruler and taking your pencil, draw a rectangle that's about 2 inches (actually, WHATEVER width you desire) and then continue by leaving some space, then drawing another box that is SLIGHTLY smaller than the one before. once you reach the smallest line ever, say a toothpick's width thick, then you probably wanna stop :) for the perfectionists/opposite-of-perfectionists, you may either use pencil entirely first then go over it OR use pen first.
PLEASE TELL ME IF YOU ARE GOING TO POST THIS DIY ON YOUR BLOG, THANKS. [3]white DIY singlet OUTFIT DOS, H&M motorcycle jacket, black tights, vintage doctor bag this be my example of rocker chic without going LEATHER, STUDS, AND BANDANAS/bananas (which is going over the top, you know) pairing it with the COTTON, not LEATHER motorcycle jacket tones it down a bit, from looking like you just parked your harley. [4] LOVE YOU JANE ALDRIDGE, Sea of Shoes just recently saw her in the VOGUE ISSUE, AUG 2009 and i ADORE her blog :) xx
