Bohemian Rasphody

EXCUSE MY YELLOWER THAN USUAL SKIN (LOL) IT'S THE EDITING...haha
knit: ross
skirt: my mom
belt: my dad
sandals: UO
necklace: DIY

thank GOD that i have cultivated a love for lengthy skirts!
my mom has (as many of you are aware) BUNCHES AND BUNCHES of maxis from her younger, i-care-about-dressing days, and they keep me away from the mall and away from spending $$$.
I love this skirt because of the shape (almost mermaid... but not too constraining like my black F21 one.. which i don't think has gone up on the blog yet) and the little dot pattern on it.
i feel VERY oddly bohemian today--I don't think I've ever dressed in earthy colors (at least in as much as i'm wearing today... )

anyways, I just wanted to remind you all that you can still, and should, donate to Japan.
What saddens me is that once the news of Japan fades and the initial shock goes away, people start to lose their interest and care for the crises that have occurred in Japan--and are STILL going on. The fear of a nuclear meltdown is shrouding over the Japanese, but I know that they, as an immensely strong people, have the hope and courage to overcome this disaster. The MULTIPLE articles I read today in Time Magazine sincerely rang in my mind, as i flipped through the desolate and despairing or joyous reunion photos that filled the pages.
I have to admit that even I myself have pushed the thought aside due to what I believe is more important in my  OWN LIFE, but I was sucked back into realization multiple times this week. Earlier yesterday, one of my dad's closest friends called from Japan, and his voice was so optimistic and cheery. It's very humbling to see these people, who have encountered so much death and hardship, to still be like that. I can't imagine myself every going through it.
i encourage all of you to take some time to look at these photos from Time, and just sit back and contemplate on the valuable life you live.

What should I wear//BLOUSE + SHORTS + CLUTCH

A welcome to spring--the contrast and pairing of the nude and the blue hues--I love it. I've always had a dream of pairing a simple, finely tailored blouse with a lovely printed short. I like the idea of a statement necklace somewhere in the mix too. and who can go wrong with a nice, envelope clutch? I need one.
1 - Chloe
2 - Beth Lauren Khaddar
3 - Dorothy Perkins
4 - Chloe
5 - Cacharel

Mix of denim, black leather, and metal, in a fine way. I like the chambray with the neckbow and pleats paired with the high waisted leather shorts. Paired with a great clutch by Coach's designer Krakoff (a resemblance of a belt there, awesome!), even better ankle boots, and a studded cuff--it all comes together smoothly.
1 - J. Crew
2 - Mariska's Vintage
3 - Reed Krakoff
4 - Acne
5 - IRO

The prepster hits the streets of Paris in this outfit. The crisp collared shirt, with the extra hint of black on the cuffs, pairs nicely with some high waisted suede shorts. I love the idea of a ballet flat that actually looks like a point shoe (awesome square toe with the ankle straps) and the iconic designer quilted clutch (convertible to handbag!) and bangle.
1 - Chloe
2 - Hermes
3 - Chanel
4 - Chloe
5 - Topshop

Modernize and minimal-ize with a two tone color scheme, and strict silhouettes--nothing more except a hint of silver in the lining of the shoe and that epic silver cuff by japanese designer Akaya Nishi (so artistic, creative... I can't handle it!). Straight lines and smooth curves complete the look--+++look at the engraving/embossing on that clutch!
1 - Acne
2 - Akaya Nishi
3 - Ostrich
4 - Senso
5 - Alexander Wang

WEAR RED FOR JAPAN

crop top: my mom
maxi skirt: my mom
belt: my dad
sandals: UO
bag: my mom

so as you can see... there's a ridiculous amount of red in this outfit.. but i feel like the brightness is toned down in the skirt so i don't look like a walking stop sign. i was pretty unaware of the significance of the red until my friend nicolette pointed out this morning that i was wearing red for japan (i guess it was a semi-conscious almost unintentional act).. but it's a small thing that we can do to raise awareness... i feel like i'm not seeing enough current events things (Libya and the middle east, the Japanese earthquakes and tsunamis) on blogs these days, so i wanted to change things up by talking a bit about it in the post below.
well, thank you all for visiting and reading, welcome to the new followers and readers

much love, and safety to you all

reflection

I just can't seem to bring myself to do an outfit post or a runway review after my last post on Japan. As more and more bodies are found and the death toll creeps higher and higher, I sit at my computer, in an old but functional house, with working electronics, with showers and bathrooms, with blankets and enough food for however long--and I can't help but be extremely thankful for my life here in Southern California, in the United States. The life I live is more luxurious (despite my own complaints) than most people live in the world. The tsunami and earthquakes that have caused so much devastation to Japan has actually changed my perspective on life, and how I react to things. While I sit here and complain about bad internet connection, long and boring classes, or other things, they seem entirely irrelevant and selfish compared to what the Japanese are currently going through. I pray nightly for the safety of the Japanese, and that they may turn to God in this time of distress, and that He will hear our/their prayers.

JAPAN

As I hope that many of you have heard, Japan was recently hit with an earthquake with the terrifying magnitude of 8.9 that triggered a destructive tsunami  a couple of days ago, and the death toll and damage is continually rising.

I would like for all my readers to take a moment to consider donating to Red Cross (or another organization that you can trust) to help with disaster relief in Japan.

Keep Japan in your prayers ♥

300th post and a "Sorry"

hey readers!
i just wanted to say  a huge SORRY for my absolutely lousy posting. even posting editorials takes me time bc i have to sort through fgr and such! well, hope you have been enjoying my inspiration posts.
so now it's finally time for another outfit post, which i wore today :)

semi-sheer dress: INC int'l, my mom
capelet: detachable part of a trench coat, my mom
native american belt: dad
rings: L-R-- american eagle, forever 21, ebay
wedges: F21

1.) i'm sorry, but i had to get the pamela love knockoff via ebay. i cannot pay like $500+ on a student's budget... so if i offended anyone who only gets the real thing, sorry ^__^ i really love the hinge though, it's so cool bc i can wear it two ways!

2.) just take a look at my face in the last picture. i crack up everysingle time because it looks like i'm either:
a.) simply pissed at someone//shrugging away into the corner
b.) imitating a celebrity who has too much paparazzi following her
c.) an annoyed fashion show attendee trying to avoid street style photographers.
i dont' know why i squinted/wrinkled my brow, i guess it was the sun, which BY THE WAY IT'S REALLY WARM IN SOCAL RIGHT NOW!

okay, thanks for reading, visiting, leaving me sweet comments/emails/opportunities. awesome
