Blogger Bonanza | SHOUT - Get in the Mix

TOP: c/o Bohemia Boutiques | SKIRT: c/o sugarlips | CLUTCH: my friend Sophie | HEELS: Target
How does one pose with a clutch? By clutching it, I'm sure. So my poses may be repetitive/awkward, but  much thanks to Nicolette Battista for patiently capturing them while I yelled "over there! that's a good place!" :)
I also just received this skirt from Sugarlips the other day, and I'm in love with it! The skirt is actually supposed to have a diagonal colorblock pattern, but I moved it so it was like a chevron. The pleats and the colors are absolutely fantastic! (Get the skirt here)
These photos were from tonight's adventures - I was invited to attend an OC blogger mixer-esque event at the OC Mart Mix in Costa Mesa. The night was filled with raffles (I won a dress :D), delicious goodies (Brie & honey crostini from the Cheese Shop was AMAZING, 'lette macarons, ), DIY accessories, photo booth, and a ton of fun bloggy-ness.
Thank you to Shout PR for an awesome night!

A Day in LA

IMAGES TAKEN BY NICOLETTE BATTISTA | SOPHIE KOHNE

I spent a majority of yesterday on an LA outing with my friends and it was absolutely amazing.
We had lunch at LAGO @ Santa Monica's 3rd Street Promenade (fabulous pizza, panini, burger, ravioli--if you need to lunch, go THERE!) and walked around for a little. Afterwards, we drove to The J. Paul Getty Museum and spent a couple of hours there--admiring the fabulous Titians and the classic Van Goghs and Monets. The experience of being mere inches away from the well preserved masterpieces that were touched by the hands of masters in the 15th century was breathtaking.
And of course, how can we not talk about the lovely LA traffic? Approximately 2.5 hours spent on the way home, but thank God for Sophie's amazing car, music, and her presence :)

Hopefully, I'll be back in LA to visit and browse some more!

What I'm Wearing | You Missed a Button!

TUNIC: c/o Oasap.com | DENIM: Zara | CLUTCH: H&M | WEDGES: Kelsi Dagger (mom's) | COLLAR: c/o Beginning Boutique | CUFF: gifted

I wore this outfit quite some time ago but never got around to posting it, unfortunately. I love last minute projects (sense my vicious sarcasm?).

Anyways, I've gotten a bunch of compliments on this asymmetrical top, and I think it is a beautiful piece that is airy for spring, but can also be used as an amazing layering piece in the fall/winter. My AP calc teacher joked that I missed a button while dressing that morning, haha.

I'll be graduating from high school in 4 days, so hopefully after that I can get back to posting, posting, posting!

meanwhile, visit my new streetstyle blog:

RESORT '13 | Part II

THE ROW
Let's start with the CFDA Womenswear Designer(s) of the year, the Olsen twins (congrats!)
Impeccably cut and simply chic, the casual comfort pieces in this collection were to die for. I can't get over the crisp lilac jacket and the preppy mustard.
PROENZA SCHOULER
Runners up for Womenswear Design were Jack and Lazaro, a fabulous pair. Returning to the boxy but beautiful silhouettes of their past few collections, Resort '13 was finely tailored and the color scheme was phenomenal.
DEREK LAM
Leather separates, A-line silhouettes, and countless pockets made this collection very strong and versatile. I also loved the juxtaposition of the vertical, horizontal, and diagonal lines running through the pieces.
BELSTAFF
Alright, so leather may not be the best fit for a summer textile, but it sure makes an outfit look like a million bucks. Motorcycle jackets, tailored bottoms, and attention to fine detail such as hardware and quilting made this collection outstandingly impressive.
BURBERRY PRORSUM
Bailey proves that smart dressing can go a  long way. I like how he paired generally "fall" tones with lighter summer pieces such as shorts and breezy jackets. Also, I would probably DIE if I saw a guy wearing that outfit on the left, it's pure perfection.
CALVIN KLEIN
I may have said this before, but FRANCISCO COSTA CAN DO NO WRONG. Origami-esque dropwaist dresses, pieces that look comfortable even through the internet, and a minimal palette--these are probably the best things since sliced bread.
LANVIN
Strong lines and even stronger silhouettes in Alber Elbaz's latest collection were smashing alongside equally as structured handbags. Super flared skirts? I can dig.
M. PATMOS
As much as I loathe/love short collections, this one was outstanding for its bare simplicity. The pale shade of green is just perfect.
BALENCIAGA
The leather bodice in the first look absolutely blew me away, and by then I was sold. Ghesquiere's use of flouncy hemlines and contrasting structured tops was a genius move!
NAHM
Fabulously tailored shirts and printed bottoms. Need I say more?

Now, for a summer playlist (part I of many more...)

ZIMBABWE - New Navy
SWING TREE - Discovery
SADNESS IS A BLESSING - Lykke Li
NEVER BE - I Blame Coco
SHAMPAIN - Marina & The Diamonds
RAGGED WOOD - Fleet Foxes
THE STRANGERS - St. Vincent
ICYPOLES - Alpine
MAJOR MINOR - Coldplay
NO YOU GIRLS - Franz Ferdinand
POLISH GIRL - Neon Indian
THE REELING - Passion Pit
SUMMERTIME SADNESS - Lana Del Rey
aaaaaaaaand basically all the tracks on FEIST'S Metals

RESORT '13 | Part I

BCBG MAX AZRIA
I love the fantastic ethnic prints/patterns paired with the flowy block colored gowns. Very resort.
 CUSHNIE ET OCHS
Michelle & Carly can do no wrong--their clean cut dresses and sharp pleats are to die for.
ERIN FETHERSTON
When I first saw this collection, I instantly thought "So many girls would wear these to prom!," but I love the way Erin cuts her frocks!
MARC BY MARC JACOBS
This set was so comfortable to look at. I'm swooning over the faded denim utility jacket (top center) and the overall ease with this collection.
TEMPERLEY LONDON
Alice dresses foxy girls, as evident in her newest collection. Effeminately demure and sexy at the same time, these satin, liquid gowns were perfectly paired with Old Hollywood waves (thank you stylist).
HOUSE OF HOLLAND
I've come to expect nothing but fun and games with each and every one of Holland's collections. Punchy stripes paired with loud florals; metallics and fringe textures contribute to the immeasurable but pleasant childishness of his pieces. He's cute too.
CARLOS MIELE
I love draped gowns, they're so effortlessly elegant.
ORGANIC BY JOHN PATRICK
Colorblocking is back (rather, has it ever gone away?)! Personally, simplicity can put a collection higher up the ranks if done well. In this case, Gingham and leather in analogous colors is perfectly preppy while blue and yellow make for a happy combination.
ROKSANDA ILLINCIC
Slightly tapered, almost bootcut, trousers have never looked so good with tunics.
DIESEL BLACK GOLD
I found this collection embody the "concrete jungle" - I get this feeling that Diesel tends to be the clothier for chic, urban girls with an affinity for easy but sharp style.
