NYFW Roundup

JUAN CARLOS OBANDO
I adored the hint of mint (ooh rhymes) and the paperlike layering in this collection. The splash of neon brights later on in the collection was refreshing too. Masterful drapery was present along with chic silhouettes.
3.1 PHILLIP LIM
The clean cut and chic collection of Phillip Lim was a nice spin-off on"normal" fall wear. Sharp linear cuts and an amazing yet simple palette made this a top collection on my list.
ALEXANDER WANG
The Famous Wang was deft in his minimal use of color as he focused more on textures and cuts this season. I loved the chromatic transitions (although I didn't pick some of the maroons and dark teals, they were lovely!). In short, Wang never fails. Never.
JENNY PACKHAM
Floor sweeping stunners were one of the biggest highlights of the Jenny Packham show. I found the elegant yet ethereal nature of the gowns to be a hit (especially with the drapery and the embellishments).
ALTUZARRA
I saw a lot of Tibetan influences in this collection, from the fringe and pailettes to the fur and patterns. I loved Joseph's subtle hints of modernization throughout his pieces too.
CHRISTIAN SIRIANO
Ah! Christian has grown so much since Project Runway! Beautifully cut dresses and simple yet daring silhouettes were absolutely amazing in his collection.
HELMUT LANG
This collection was a great embodiment of fall style (the next best being Rag & Bone, I think). The way the leather was fashioned was amazing, I love the cut and silhouette of the first leather jacket. Beautiful speckled prints, a HL regular, were also plentiful on pants, dresses, and blouses.
HERVE LEGER BY MAX AZRIA
Max Azria's collection showcased his true talent-leather harnesses, sandals, and a beautiful range of gladiator inspired pieces decorated the models at Herve Leger. The intricacy of the leather harnesses contrasted well with the strong bodies of his dresses.
J. MENDEL
My favorite pieces in this collection were the first two looks--the head to toe winter white in different silhouettes was amazing. I love the simple elegance of his gowns too, so red carpet.
KIMBERLY OVITZ
Ovitz's beautiful fall collection consisted of rough motorcycle jackets, casual draped dresses and chic body-hugging bandage dresses. Again, texture and silhouette were nicely played with despite the monotone scheme.
PETER SOM
The sharp peplums and sheer overlays made this collection one of my favorites. I also liked how there was a contrast between the fitted dresses and the voluptuousness of the sleeves in the beginning and towards the end of the collection.
PRABAL GURUNG
Yes, Prabal deserves 4 sets of pictures. The collection was breathtakingly stunning and (I pretty much have no more adjectives to describe it) his concept was amazing (read more about it on Style.com) I loved the how the color palette shifted from black, blue, and white, to glimmering gold. I sensed a carryover of the digital print mania from last season (which was #totesamaze), but he reworked it beautifully. Great texture, styling, use of detail, and fabrics. Applause.
PROENZA SCHOULER
The volume in this collection is just INSANE! I didn't realize how the Orient tied into the collection until I saw the last few pieces. The exquisite bird embroidery and floral silk prints had me thinking that the initial pieces resembled origami folds of paper.
RAG & BONE
The epitome of FALL! Loved the merciless layering and beautiful palette of deep, rich coloration. Even the individual pieces could be gorgeous by themselves. Great coats--got me wanting some ombre wool in my life.
RED VALENTINO
The girliness inside me was squealing with delight at this lovely collection. Feminine frills, lace, and a perfect scheme of pastels and a variety of different pieces and styles made this a collection worth thumbing through.
SUNO
Can you say floral and mixed prints?! I've bought a few pieces of different florals just to do this. While the organic prints are entirely different, Suno manages to make them look undeniably chic and cohesive. Beautiful.
WES GORDON
Cascading high-low hems were a major highlight in this collection. The full skirts and jewel tone hues made it even better! (Plus, how gorgeous is that second to last lace dress?!)

Hope you enjoyed my mini reviews of my favorite NYFW collections.
It's time for LONDON!

xx

Amazing round up, probably wouldn't have selected anything different. Have seen some amazing stuff this year.. what I am really taking away from it all at the moment is that I need to go find a good quality wine lip that doesn't bleed out ASAP. So amazing.
