Last year, around this same time, Hurricane Sandy hit the east coast and devastated countless homes, lives, and spirits. It breaks my heart that they are still recovering from this horrible disaster this year. (You can still help through various organizations, including Staten Island Recovers and Occupy Sandy, among others)  As you all know, the Philippines were recently hit by a massive typhoon, with a death toll of 5,000. An estimated 4 million are displaced, their homes lost or destroyed.  There are so many things we can and should do to help with this disaster.  Here are some organizations that are working for relief:

As we near Thanksgiving, I can't help but be reminded of how blessed I am to be safe, housed, and be able to access medical attention. Please consider giving to any of the above organizations in this time of need.
