What I'm Wearing | At the National Mall

VINTAGE jacket, ASOS dress, blouse thanks to POP BASIC, JOE FRESH ankle boots, GLINT&GLEAM bag thanks to SHOPLATELY
I only stayed in DC for a total of 2 full days, so here is the second outfit I wore! (Can you see the Washington Monument behind me?)

I love this dropwaist tank dress from ASOS because it's such a versatile layering piece; I scored it for $13 last summer and have been wearing it ever since. The best thing about a sleeveless dress is that you can put whatever you'd like underneath! I opted for this simple but versatile polka dotted collared button up from Pop Basic.
The amazing wool paneled jacket was thrifted back home in California for ONE DOLLAR. That's right, $1.00. It's definitely the best buy in my entire closet!

What I'm Wearing | Old Town Alexandria

S&D coat, dress thanks to BOHEMIA BOUTIQUES, ZARA sweater, JOE FRESH boots, GLINT&GLEAM bag thanks to SHOPLATELY, midi ring thanks to TNEMNRODA, ESSIE polish in "Penny Talk"

I just spent the last few days in Alexandria, VA / Washington D.C. with my roommate for a short but fun spring break trip. Yesterday, we got away from the quick pace of NYC and entered into relaxed atmosphere of the Neoclassical architecture-land of DC. We walked the Mall and visited the Jefferson Memorial, the Capitol Building, the White House, the Smithsonian, and the surrounding area.

These pictures were taken in front of an adorable seafoam painted storefront on King Street in Old Town Alexandria. All the buildings are connected but painted in different hues and look like rows of pastel petit fours!

What I'm Wearing | Prep School

MOM'S coat, H&M men's varsity jacket, MOM'S button up, JOE FRESH trousers, BCBG wedges, GLINT&GLEAM satchel thanks to SHOPLATELY
I am so sorry about the outfit delays! If you've been reading my blog for the past month, you'll know that I've devotedly kept up with fashion week like a good blogger (you can see my ongoing coverage HERE)...except for the fact that I haven't posted any outfits of mine!
A few of my inexcusable excuses? The weather ( although layering should make outfits more interesting, right?), because I am still a Californian and will always have difficulty combating the cold. Another reason is just no time (also inexcusable...I mean I've been keeping up with fashion week).
So please excuse my indecencies and enjoy this post and these fabulous $9 pants! :)
Slowly but surely, I am learning how to layer like a New Yorker. Half of my closet is composed of outerwear pieces, be it blazers, jackets, or coats. Ironically, I am always drawn to purchasing those pieces whenever I shop in store or online browse. Guilty as charged; I can't overlook a great outerwear piece. I've probably posted this coat before, but it's really one of my favorite pieces in my closet. Boxy and curvy all at the same time, it's like a pared down version of a CDG runway piece. I wear the heck out of it and it keeps me warm! Win-win. Also, this mocha satchel is a great new piece that serves all my school and sartorial needs! (now to find a black one of comparable worth...)
keep posted for more runway coverage of Milan and the upcoming Paris shows!

What I'm Wearing | Warm Weather

FOREVER 21 gifted denim shirt, FOREVER 21 vest, GLINT&GLEAM necklace thanks to SHOPLATELY, ZARA skirt, JOE FRESH ankle boots

Yesterday, the city was reinvigorated by a pleasant blast of warmth in the morning that lasted until the afternoon but began to fade quickly afterwards. I took the chance to wear my beloved Zara skirt and ventured bare-legged outside.
I also donned my amazing chainmail-esque necklace from ShopLately that is slowly creeping towards the position of being my top favorite neckpiece. I'm just enamored with the raw look of the chains and how bold it is.

In other news, I'm on my third day of school and fashion month (lol) is officially starting next week kicking off in NYC (I will be attending a presentation and hopefully a show, we'll see!) and it's going to be a generally hectic time. Also, as of February, I will be an official blogger for Odalisque Magazine (I styled an editorial for them with the lovely Kelsea Kosko) so this may mean blogging more often (squee, it's a tight fit but I think/hope I can do it!)

Meanwhile, watch for my weekly column spotlighting the Fashionistas and Fashionistos of the FIT campus at College Fashionista!

What I'm Wearing | Boyfriend

ZARA blazer / necklaces thanks to SHOP LATELY / tee thanks to BEGINNING BOUTIQUE / Levi's boyfriend jeans borrowed from Sharon / BCBG wedges

I want to first say SORRY for being the worst style blogger of 2012--school and styling have taken up a lot of my time for the past few months! However, finals week is here and that means I will be going back to California for winter break-for an entire MONTH!

These are just a few snaps of today's outfit, featuring an homage to my West Coast roots thanks to Beginning Boutique
I decided to pair this rather casual outfit with some holiday jewels in my favorite costume jewelry style from Shop Lately.

On another note, I had an amazing time at the Modern Vice factory party hosted by Jordan, Natalie, and Dylana a few blocks up a few days ago and it was fantastic. You can see more pictures on my instagram feed @_jessicawu.

NEW IN! All thanks to ShopLately!
thought I would show you all the collection of jewelry that I brought with me to New York for school.
Unfortunately, all of my pieces don't get an equal share of wear (sorry, my unworn necklaces!), but I do love how they look sitting with the others.
My favorite necklace right now is the silver spiked tooth Glint and Gleam necklace sent to me by Shoplately.

I've displayed them on ceramic plates from Fish's Eddy, the most adorable dish and house wares store I've encountered thus far. They have an amazing $1 section in the back, where all the merchandise is (you guessed it!) a dollar a piece. So these four little dishes came out to a mere $4! They also have large plates, cups, flatware, bowls, and the like in the back. If you're ever in NYC, make sure to visit!
