Just a quick outfit post of my look a few days ago--lots of layering and dark colors (typical).
Hope you all are keeping warm in this chilly weather! Although--the temps are rising for NYCers in the next few days!

Overall Mood: Leather

UNIQLO turtleneck / LUSH overalls thanks to LULU'S / VINTAGE coat / ZARA boots / sunglasses thanks to ZEROUV
photos by Daniel Graindorge

The temps have been crazy over the past few days, going from a comfortable 60 degrees to dropping to a numbing chill of 30 degrees--and back up again.
When it settles in the 40s and 50s, I know it's time to break out the leather!

I recently received these gorgeous leather overalls from Lulu's and they are such a go-to piece! Like a throw-on dress, it's an easy piece that you can layer and pair with so many things. The last time I wore overalls was probably 2nd grade, so it was a funny experience slipping back into them.
I kept warm with this heat-tech turtleneck from Uniqlo and then slung my gigantic vintage coat from my mom over everything. I'm wearing my favorite pointy footwear from Zara and these amazing sunnies from the people at ZeroUV (thinking about it makes me miss home!).

Thanks again to my talented friend Daniel for the lovely photos!!

Falling into Autumn

VINTAGE coat (mom's), moto jacket thanks to STORETS, ASOS top, skirt thanks to STORETS, ZARA boots, URBAN OUTFITTERS bag, sunglasses thanks to ZEROUV

So going bare-legged in 40-50 degree weather is something that I am not skilled or equipped to do, but with this gigantic warm overcoat that I stole from my mother, I feel like I can do anything. It's funny how only a few years ago that floor length coats were the exact opposite of the "look" I was going for. Today, it's all about exaggerated volume and lengths, especially in my outerwear choices.

I'm in the market for some good, long-lasting tights (my mother is fan of Wolford) hence the tights-less legs in this post. Anyways, I decided to pair this fun faux tie-waist plaid skirt with a cool textured sleeve moto jacket from the lovely people at Storets. I'm also wearing some of my new favorite purchases, a short sleeved sweat top from Asos that I scored for $18 and a small side bag from UO that I got for $5!

So this outfit post is definitely a rejuvenation as my blogging has been so sporadic (okay, absent) as of late. My apologies, and I hope that I can blog some more!

Coastal Flora

dress thanks to CHOIES / THRIFTED blazer / ZARA boots / Marlow satchel thanks to MaryLai New York / sunglasses thanks to ZEROUV

pictures by Mama Wu!

My hometown just relocated and rennovated its civic center/city hall earlier this year and I hadn't had a chance to see it until a few days ago. The color scheme and architectural motifs all tie to the sea (in fact, I think the building itself looks like an aquarium) as it is mere moments from the ocean (see the horizon in the back?).

I thought it would be a perfect place to take pictures and I'm very happy with the way these turned out!
I just got this amazing summer dress in the mail and for some reason thought to pair it with a floral embroidered blazer that I thrifted in New York for $10.

Consequently, the black blazer led me to pair it with my amazing Marlow satchel (it'll be online soon!) and my new pointy Zara footwear. I finished the look with these rad reflective ZeroUV sunnies and some bright red lipstick!

On a side note - Just a few more days until I fly back to NYC for my 3rd semester of school! I can't wait, although I'm sad to be leaving my family, friends, and ridiculously amazing summer weather :(

Sartorial Illusions

ZARA blazer, skirt, shoes / THRIFTED tee / "Jazz" bag thanks to JUMP FROM PAPER / sunglasses thanks to ZeroUV
photos by Jane Xie

A few weeks ago, my day was instantly made when I was contacted by the cool people at Jump From Paper, an amazing accessories company based and designed in Taiwan.Being of Taiwanese heritage, it makes me so happy to see such amazing concepts from Taiwan being brought to life and achieving world renown and visibility in the market.

The aesthetic of Jump From Paper is simple but plays tricks on the mind as its handbags appear 2 dimensional and flat, with thick black seams and edges just as if cartoon-drawn. Kitschy and adorable in its own way, I let the Jazz bag from the new 2013 collection speak for itself by pairing it with a simple palette of black and white and sleek eyewear thanks to ZeroUV and adding a pop of summery red-orange in the blazer.

Browse the mind-boggling gallery of Chay and Rika's cartoon creations here!
Thank you so much 晴安 !

ZARA fw13

images via zara
So I logged onto Zara today on a mission to purchase something I've been eyeing for a while and I was instantly awestruck by their amazing new campaign for FW13.
I love how there is a great variety of design aesthetics but they all seem to flow together really cohesively. The boxy pocketed coats and voluminous skirts are serious contenders to the lace dresses with hats and those prairie floral print pieces.
It all gets me so stoked for fall, you know?

LOVE LIST | Denim Dresses & How To Wear

CHALAYAN BLACK dress / SMYTHSON clutch / TIBI boots / KAREN WALKER sunglasses / A.V. MAX rings

PROENZA SCHOULER dress / ZARA clutch / ACNE cardholder / ALEXANDER WANG heels / HIPP X RGB polish / GATHERING EYE collar
WOOD WOOD dress / THEORY vest / 3.1 PHILLIP LIM bag / MODERN VICE boots / EDDIE BORGO ring / SAINT LAURENT PARIS sunglasses
Today, I had some fun playing polyvore dress up with one of my favorite summer pieces, the denim dress. Though it is a piece that I have yet to own, denim dresses are appealing because they can be lightweight, comfortable and airy, and come in as many washes are your pairs of jeans.
Above are what I would probably pair the short sleeve, long sleeve, and sleeveless dresses with--from the most love worthy boots by Tibi and Modern Vice to cool clutches and minimalistic hardware.
What's your summer uniform?

Focus on the Details

ASOS shirt / ZARA skirt / MARYLAI New York satchel
I must first say sorry for the lack of outfit posts in the last few weeks. I've been so preoccupied with resort and menswear that I didn't make time for personal style posts.
Since it is summer, I will try venturing around to get some good outfit pictures in the future (fingers crossed).
Anyways, this post is dedicated to my amazing new satchel designed by the ultra talented NYC handbag designer Mary Lai, whom I met through Fashion PR Con. I was given the chance to style her most recent lookbook (on the home page of the site!) and it was such a fun experience to work with her, the team, and her amazing creations.
My search for the perfect relaxed black satchel finally ended thanks to the Marlow satchel. With 4 compartments/pockets, a roomy suede lined interior, amazing gold hardware (love the braided leather zipper detailing!), and the most buttery leather, it was love at first sight.
You will definitely be seeing more of this bag in future posts, more pictures soon!
Thank you so much Mary for my bag!

What I'm Wearing | Ice Blue and Fiery Red

ZARA jacket, borrowed blouse, F21 shorts, H&M boots, necklace thanks to SHOPLATELY

I borrowed this snazzy number from the lovely lady who took my photos (Carina) and can I just say I love the cut and fit of Zara blazers? Constricting as they are, I just love the way they are so snug yet drape nicely.

To finish off this look, I put on some fire engine red lipstick in complement to my shorts ($15, great buy I must say, Forever 21) and threw on the ubiquitous diamante necklace in a nice cream.

What I'm Wearing | Coral & Cobalt

ZARA blazer, F21 blouse, ASOS denim, H&M boots, Lily Wang ring thanks to SHOPLATELY

photos by Carina
The contrast of the hot red orange/coral (whatever you'd like to call it) with the cobalt blue is one of my favorite color combinations ever. In fact, you've probably already seen an outfit of mine in a similar palette.
I kept the rest of the outfit simple by using some neutral accessories and minimal jewelry. How cool is my new bolt ring from ShopLately? I'm definitely not a gold jewelry person, but I've been wearing it nonstop for the past week!

What I'm Wearing | Old Town Alexandria

S&D coat, dress thanks to BOHEMIA BOUTIQUES, ZARA sweater, JOE FRESH boots, GLINT&GLEAM bag thanks to SHOPLATELY, midi ring thanks to TNEMNRODA, ESSIE polish in "Penny Talk"

I just spent the last few days in Alexandria, VA / Washington D.C. with my roommate for a short but fun spring break trip. Yesterday, we got away from the quick pace of NYC and entered into relaxed atmosphere of the Neoclassical architecture-land of DC. We walked the Mall and visited the Jefferson Memorial, the Capitol Building, the White House, the Smithsonian, and the surrounding area.

These pictures were taken in front of an adorable seafoam painted storefront on King Street in Old Town Alexandria. All the buildings are connected but painted in different hues and look like rows of pastel petit fours!

What I'm Wearing | Warm Weather

FOREVER 21 gifted denim shirt, FOREVER 21 vest, GLINT&GLEAM necklace thanks to SHOPLATELY, ZARA skirt, JOE FRESH ankle boots

Yesterday, the city was reinvigorated by a pleasant blast of warmth in the morning that lasted until the afternoon but began to fade quickly afterwards. I took the chance to wear my beloved Zara skirt and ventured bare-legged outside.
I also donned my amazing chainmail-esque necklace from ShopLately that is slowly creeping towards the position of being my top favorite neckpiece. I'm just enamored with the raw look of the chains and how bold it is.

In other news, I'm on my third day of school and fashion month (lol) is officially starting next week kicking off in NYC (I will be attending a presentation and hopefully a show, we'll see!) and it's going to be a generally hectic time. Also, as of February, I will be an official blogger for Odalisque Magazine (I styled an editorial for them with the lovely Kelsea Kosko) so this may mean blogging more often (squee, it's a tight fit but I think/hope I can do it!)

Meanwhile, watch for my weekly column spotlighting the Fashionistas and Fashionistos of the FIT campus at College Fashionista!
